چکیده

T he Palmaz-Schatz stent has been used successfully to improve primary angioplasty results, to treat large coronary dissections, or to prevent impending closure of the lumen.-1-5 The determination of successful stent implantation is based on the angiographic appearance. However, angiographic projection imaging may not reveal the three-dimensional geometry that is necessary to appreciate full expansion of a cylindrical meshwork device such as the intracoronary stent. Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging has the advantage of providing detailed cross-sectional images from within the vessel lumen, allowing better evaluation of stent expansion.16-21 Based on angiographic assessment, it has been recommended to overdilate the stenosis about 10% greater than the reference vessel diameter.1 There is no quantitative guideline for IVUS assessment of successful stent implantation. The purpose of this study was to compare the observations of IVUS with standard angiography after stent implantation and to develop recommendations for guiding stent implantation by IVUS.

Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging: Novel Insights into the Vascular Response After Coronary Stent Implantation

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a high-resolution imaging technique that is increasingly used for intracoronary imaging to characterize coronary atherosclerotic plaques and vascular responses after coronary stent implantation. Introduction of optical frequency-domain imaging (OFDI; second generation OCT) has simplified practical use of this novel imaging modality resulting in a more wides...

Overview of Intracoronary Brachytherapy for in-Stent Restenosis of a Drug-Eluting Stent

Percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting is considered recently as the most common procedure for the treatment of symptomatic coronary. The article reviewed 41 studies published during 1997-2019 on intracoronary brachytherapy for in-stent restenosis of a drug-eluting stent. Intracoronary radiation therapy was finally confirmed in the setting of in-stent restenosis using as adjunctive th...

Thrombotic complication during intracoronary imaging

Intracoronary imaging with intracoronary ultrasound and coherence tomography is often used in the follow-up of coronary stent implantation. The present case shows an infrequent complication of these procedures, suggesting our continued attention to the selective use of these invasive procedures.

The need for stent-lesion matching to optimize outcomes of intracoronary stent implantation.

Intracoronary stents have markedly improved the outcomes of catheter-based coronary interventions. Intracoronary stent implantation rates of over 90% during coronary angioplasty are common. Stent implantations are associated with a small but statistically significant number of adverse outcomes including restenosis, thrombosis, strut malapposition, incomplete strut endothelialization, and variou...

Release of Intracoronary Microparticles during Stent Implantation into Stable Atherosclerotic Lesions under Protection with an Aspiration Device

OBJECTIVE Stent implantation into atherosclerotic coronary vessels impacts on downstream microvascular function and induces the release of particulate debris and soluble substances, which differs qualitatively and quantitatively between native right coronary arteries (RCAs) and saphenous vein grafts on right coronary arteries (SVG-RCAs). We have now quantified the release of microparticles (MPs...
